Homer Public Library
will launch the
summer reading
programs beginning
with sign up
starting on June
6th. Come
"Catch the Reading
Bug" this summer at
the Homer Public
Library and discover
the amazing world of
insects. The
2008 Summer Reading
Program is open to
young people,
preschool through
this years'
graduating seniors.
We have weekly
prizes for books
read, and grand
prizes at the last
drawing for young
adults on August
18th. Our
weekly activities
include Story Time
for the little ones
on Wednesday
mornings at 10:30,
movie time on Friday
afternoons at 1:00
with a bag of
popcorn and a good
flick.
Tuesday's we have
programming planned,
like on June 17th
for our young adults
6th grade and up we
will have Rob Stuart
with a program on
what to watch out
for with tattooing
and piercing.
Rob is the owner of
Underground Ink in
Michigan Center.
We will have a
special story time
on Friday June 20th
at 10:30 with the
reading of "Twas the
night before
Summer", a new book
written by a
Michigan author Anne
Margaret Lewis.
This will welcome in
summer in a fun way.
For all ages on
Tuesday June 24th,
we have Mike from
Portage coming in
with about 14 native
Michigan snakes.
He will be telling
us all about them at
the Community House.
July 15th Clem Camp,
Homer's famous
puppeteer, will
entertain kids of
all ages with one of
his shows.
July 22nd we will
welcome in Kalamazoo
Nature Center at the
Community House with
a wonderful program
"TO BEE OR NOT TO
BEE." July
29th will be a
program which you
need to sign up for
as we will welcome
Laurie Lazzaro
Knowlton from Ohio
with a program
buzzing with
excitement as she
teaches the children
1st grade through
5th grade about bugs
and making a book.
We will also have
live Bats coming on
August 12th at 10:00
with Bats from
around the world
from the
organization for Bat
Conservation.
Young adult programs
will have one on
nutrition with good
eating, and one on
exercising with
music and having fun
with it. We
look forward to
seeing all the kids
that signed up last
year and hope to see
many new faces come
in and check us out.
